Ultrasonic Pipe Inspection

DSSI provides ultrasonic pipe inspection using the ASCAN-2000™. This system provides a full-body ultrasonic pipe inspection designed to meet the most stringent industry requirements for the inspection of both new and used drill-pipe, tubing and casing, as well as heavy-wall landing strings. This system incorporates the latest in high-speed ultrasonic technology and utilizes a fully computerized data-acquisition system. Reports and inspection presentations are formatted to meet or exceed all industry standards including T H Hill DS-1 3rd Edition.

The computerized electronics system provides unparalleled accuracy and advanced technology making both static and dynamic calibrations easy to set. The ASCAN-2000™ can accommodate pipe diameters ranging from 2-3/8” to 12-3/8” and, range two or range three lengths. The UT scanning head has fully-adjustable transducer positions to allow for the implementation of infinite angles as specified by the customer.

The ASCAN-2000™ is unique because it offers true immersion that allows sound transmission to travel straight into the pipe wall by the designated automated scanner housing the transducers. This eliminates problematic interface and attenuation issues found in older systems that use wedges to pass sound into the tube wall.
